In order to calculate a price for your stairlift, we'll need you to take a few measurements first. After you've done that and entered them here, we'll be able to calculate the fully delivered and installed price for your stairlift.

All you'll need is a tape measure, and a pen and paper. You may even want to print out this page and use that as your worksheet.

It's really very easy to do and as long as you take your time and make accurate measurements you'll have your price calculated in next to no time at all.

There must be at least 750 mm clear at the bottom of the stairs. If there are any obstructions such as radiators or power points, or openings such as doorways, after finishing your price calculation please ring us on 0800 9800 126 to discuss your installation needs.

Remember to use millimetres for all measurements.

1. Your first step is to choose which side of the staircase to locate the stairlift: the left side or the right side.

2. The second step is to determine the overall length of the staircase, from the floor to the top of the staircase. Simply extend your measuring tape from the top of the staircase until the tape reaches the floor.

Make this measurement on the same side as you will be locating your stairlift.

It is very important this measurement is accurate, so take your time and, if unsure, ask for a second opinion.

3. The third step is to measure the width of the staircase.

Remember to measure in several places along the staircase as many staircases will have slight variations. Use the smallest (meaning the narrowest point) measurement you take.

Always take your measurements from the side you will be locating the staircase.

4. The fourth step is to count the number of steps it takes to reach the top of the staircase (simply count the step noses).

5. The fifth, and final, step is to ensure there is adequate clearance from obstructions at both the top and the bottom of the stairs.

Ensure that there are no obstructions, such as a door or a wall, within 400 mm (200 mm for the Simplicity 950) of the top step nose. (see image below)
